Die Band Following Footsteps wurde 2021 von Karlheinz Miklin jr. gegründet. Was als Versuch begann, seine eigenen musikalischen Ideen umzusetzen, hat sich in den Jahren seither zu einem der interessanteren und erfolgreicheren Projekte im österreichischen Modern Jazz entwickelt. Durch zahlreiche Konzerte ist das Quartett (bestehend aus den international gefragten Ausnahmemusikern Gerhard Ornig tp., Emiliano Sampaio g., Hrvoje Kralj b. und Miklin dr. comp.) zusammengewachsen und hat einen sehr eigenständigen Sound entwickelt. Dieser ist gleichermaßen in der Tradition verwurzelt wie auch modern und durch eine weite stilistische Bandbreite sehr abwechslungsreich. Nach dem erfolgreichen Debütalbum, das österreichweit für Begeisterung sorgte, kehrte die Band im Mai 2025 an ihre Homebase zurück – das renommierte Jazzlokal tube’s in Graz, wo sie 2021 erstmals auftrat und 2023 ihr erstes Album aufnahm. An drei Abenden entstand dort live vor Publikum das neue Werk In The Moment (erscheint im November 2025 bei session work records). Im Rahmen ihrer Album-Präsentationstour macht die Band auch exklusiv im Waldviertel Station.
