Chicago’s Ethnic Heritage Ensemble, founded by percussionist Kahil El’Zabar in 1974, is one of the most consistent and visionary groups in the lineage of spiritual jazz – rooted in the AACM and deeply inspired by African tradition.

Celebrating their 50th anniversary, they present a stellar line-up: Alex Harding on baritone sax, Corey Wilkes on trumpet, Ishmael Ali on cello – with El’Zabar himself weaving it all together on drums, kalimba, and voice.

Their new album “Live at Mu London” (SpiritMuse Records) drops October 2025.
