The Messiah Music Concert at Central Trinity
The Zanesville Civic Chorus and Orchestra presents its 96th annual performance of Handel’s Messiah Oratorio Sunday, December 14, 6:00 pm at CT.
This annual music gift to the Zanesville/Muskingum County Community is one of the oldest choral music traditions in the State of Ohio. The production is under the direction of Ann Lillie Briggs. The production is sponsored by the Thursday Music Club.
Messiah is the world’s most popular sacred choral music composition. It was first performed 281 years ago in Dublin, Ireland. Often the composer, George Frederick Handel, would present this music as a benefit for a charity. The expenses for this concert are being funded by grants and financial gifts from music lovers in our community. The tradition of taking a freewill offering and giving it to a local charity in the “spirit of Handel” continues in the Zanesville production.
You are invited to attend the concert and bring a friend. Hear the scripture “come alive” through the music.
The concert will also be livestreamed on our church App, Webpage, or Facebook and later posted on our church website where it can be viewed at any time.
