Na de oprichting in 2012 werd de band al snel bestempeld als een ‘supergroep’ vanwege de rijke muzikale geschiedenis van de bandleden, waaronder Snowy White, Matt Schofield, Cuby & the Blizzards, en anderen. Nu, twaalf jaar later, blijft King of the World deze titel meer dan waardig en heeft de band niets aan energie, drive en creativiteit ingeboet. Met de Belgische gitaarvirtuoos Stef Delbaere en zanger/drummer Marlon Pichel heeft de band zichzelf opnieuw uitgevonden en staat voor kwalitatieve roots, rhythm & blues met een diversiteit aan vocale hoogstandjes.

De band heeft zowel in de studio als op het podium een dijk van een reputatie opgebouwd en heeft lovende reacties ontvangen voor hun zes eerdere albums en vele shows, waaronder op het North Sea Jazz Festival, Ribs ’n Blues, Vienna Spring Blues Festival, Paradiso, en andere Nederlandse poptempels. Bovendien heeft de band talloze Blues Awards ontvangen, waaronder voor beste toetsenist, beste drummer, beste bassist (3x), beste gitarist en beste band. Gitarist Magazine rekent Stef Delbaere tot de top van de beste blues/rock gitaristen uit de Benelux. King of the World was meerdere malen te zien en te horen in TV- en radioshows, waaronder Vrije Geluiden (TV), Pauw en Witteman (TV 2x), Derksen on the Road (TV), Jongens van het Noorden (TV), Spijkers met Koppen (radio) en TROS-muziekcafé́ (radio). Op de nieuwe CD is een nieuw bandgeluid te horen met meer plaats voor de vocale kwaliteiten van de bandleden, waarbij zanger/drummer/componist Marlon Pichel een steeds grotere rol inneemt.
