Cultivating Curiosity: Succulent Giveaway & Hands-On Workshop
Does your kid dig succulents? Are they interested in expanding their plant collection or curious about starting one but not sure how to begin? Then we have good news for you! The season of giving is near, and the Hi-Desert Nature Museum is getting into the spirit with a free succulent giveaway for kids organized by the local community group Plant Parenthood. 

On Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m., budding botanists and future root wranglers are invited to stop by the Hi-Desert Nature Museum for a drop-in succulent propagating workshop designed for children ages 18-and-under facilitated by Plant Parenthood. Students will learn how to propagate and care for desert-adapted plants under the guidance of passionate community members who will share tips for helping these resilient species thrive both indoors and out. These low maintenance plants are great for new or inexperienced gardeners due to their tolerance of the heat and drought-like conditions of the Mojave Desert. This workshop is made possible thanks to the generosity of local community members who donated cuttings, soil and pots with the expressed interest in inspiring the next generation of plant lovers to pick up a trowel and dig in!

Registration is not required, and no prior gardening experience or green thumb is needed. Plant Parenthood will provide all the tools, materials and knowledge one needs to take home their very own plant pal (while supplies last). Just bring your curiosity, a sunny spirit and get ready to get your hands dirty!

For over 60 years the Hi-Desert Nature Museum has been dedicated to the process of education by exploring the natural, artistic and cultural heritage of the Morongo Basin and High Desert. The Museum seeks to inspire wonder, discovery, understanding and responsibility in its community and visitors through exhibits, programs and collections in the arts, history and natural sciences. The Hi-Desert Nature Museum is operated by the Town of Yucca Valley and is located in the Yucca Valley Community Center Complex at 57090 Twentynine Palms Highway. The Museum is open Wednesday-Saturday from 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Admission is free; donations support the educational mission of the Museum.
