Layers of Legacy tells the unique story of Youngstown in commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary. From concept generation to design, this mural was shaped by the community. Residents shared design ideas through public surveys, local artists submitted creative concepts, and a selection committee of downtown stakeholders chose the artists.

Layers of Legacy intends to bring Youngstown together in the heart of downtown through a shared reflection of the city’s history, culture, and character. Youngstown-inspired, Youngstown-created, and Youngstown-proud, this mural celebrates the people, stories, and traditions that have shaped our city across generations.

- Kress Lot - 111 W Federal St.
- Be the first to see the final mural and meet the artists who made it happen: Pat McGlone, Christina Bunevich, Willie Duck Jr., and Daniel Madeline! Free refreshments will be provided. Stick around after the unveiling for First Friday: Celebrating America 250.

This mural was commissioned by the Economic Action Group and the City of Youngstown, and made possible by support from America 250-Ohio Commission, the Mayhew Family Foundation, Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, The Youngstown Foundation, and ISLE/Purple Cat.
