Have you ever experienced music in complete darkness? Not just dimmed lights — but absolute, enveloping blackness?
Join The Ebor Singers for a powerful and immersive journey that begins in flickering candlelight and descends, gradually and deliberately, into total darkness. Inspired by the ancient Tenebrae services of Holy Week, this performance explores the emotional and spiritual transformation from light to shadow — not just as a liturgical ritual, but as a deeply human, sensory experience.
Let yourself be transported by some of the most hauntingly beautiful choral music ever written: Whitacre’s ethereal ‘Sleep’, Lotti’s poignant ‘Crucifixus’, and works ranging from Bach to Bob Dylan — each piece carefully chosen to resonate in the dark, where every breath and harmony feels closer, more intimate, and more alive.
The evening will offer a descent into stillness, a meditation on light and loss, and a rare chance to deeply listen amid darkness.
