We have booked some sessions with the York and District Indoor Bowls Club at 302 Thanet Road, Dringhouses, York for you and your family. Melanie from Families Get Active will be there to support you on the day. You can book as many free sessions as you wish, but please only book if you really intend to join us. Tickets can be cancelled via eventbrite.

These sessions are free and if you attend regularly you can join us at our celebration buffet!

Indoor Bowls is open to all families in York with children over the age of 7. Children must be closely supervised at all times and we ask that parents stay and take part.

Our project assumes no prior experience and there will be instruction on the day where you can borrow the necessary bowls equipment.

Please wear trainers or other suitable footwear.

We want to create a friendly atmosphere where everyone can have a go.

Through generous Sport England and WEA funding we are able to offer this for FREE but we do ask that you complete our Sport England surveys.

Who are we?

We are Families Get Active; a three year project funded by Sport England and WEA to help support families to get active in their local neighbourhood. We like to connect with communities and find simple, local cost activities for parents and carers to try out. Research shows that being active is great for our physical health and wellbeing. If you make it FUN it is more likely that it will be sustainable and the whole family will want to be involved.

This project is for you: families who want to discover new skills, get active and engage with their community.
