"description": "Hi! My name is Sabine and I specialise in helping bereaved partners who lack the energy, motivation or skills to look after themselves to take charge of their health so that, once they feel better, they can start to embrace life again with a new sense of positivity, passion and purpose.\rMy mission is to make it as easy as possible for you to take the first small steps towards regaining control. This will give you the momentum you need to make some more changes and break out of old habits and thinking patterns that may be holding you back. When you are overwhelmed and suffering from the physical symptoms of grief, you want clear and simple advice on what action to take to get yourself into a better place.\rThat’s where I can help - not only because I studied the health benefits of foods, herbs and spices; I can also speak from personal experience and share what has helped me going through trauma and bereavement. \rI lost my husband Kevin to acute myeloid leukaemia several years ago. In fact, it was his cancer diagnosis that pushed me into pursuing my life-long interest in food as medicine. I strongly believe in our body’s own healing power and I was determined to address the root causes of his illness through the nutrient-dense food I learned to cook. I also learned to transfer my skills as a highly qualified linguist to reading and understanding scientific papers on treatment options, survival rates, cancer diets and the role of gut bacteria in our immune system.\rFrom this, it was a small step to deciding to study Nutrition Science and learn to apply health coaching skills to help people address their individual imbalances. Later, I discovered the powerful techniques of Kundalini yoga and enrolled on a teacher training course to give Kevin the best support going through his stem cell transplant. Due to complications, he died four months after the treatment.\rStudying nutrition and my yoga practice kept me going. I am now a member of the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and registered with the Complementary & Healthcare Council (CNHC). On top of that, I am a fully qualified yoga therapist and Ayurvedic digestive health coach. Deep-diving into Ayurveda, the ancient healing system of India, has given me a whole treasure chest of simple remedies and practices to help myself and others without the need for medication. \rI passionately believe that the food we eat and how well we manage emotional stress have a huge impact on the way we navigate the ups and downs of grief. We can cope so much better with all the turmoil and chaos when we avoid blood sugar roller-coasters on top of emotional ones. I noticed that I was much more likely to feel anxious, irritable, depressed or generally unbalanced when I was not able to get the ‘happy’ food I normally eat or when I skipped a meal because I couldn’t be bothered. \rChanging habits is challenging at the best of times. And even more so when you are grieving. I offer practical and emotional grief support to make it easier for you to get through each day and help you make sense of what is going on in your body. I know how hard it is to get back up when life throws you a massive curve ball, and together we can work out ways in which you can gradually transition to a new daily routine that is best suited to your body and circumstances. At your own pace. In your own time. With the least amount of effort, time or confusion about healthy eating.\rGrieving can also be very lonely and I offer various ways in which you can connect with like-minded people. And as a ‘side-effect’, you may just fall in love with cooking again…. or meditation. Like me.\rAre you ready to share your story with someone who truly listens and understands? Then book a ‘First Steps Towards Change’ session with me today to discuss how we can work together to get you from where you are now to where you would like to be – in small, simple steps.
