About this Event

About the Presentation

Our forests floors come alive with bursts of color in early spring, before the forest canopy leafs out. These are spring ephemeral wildflowers, and they fill our world with beauty and seem to be our reward for enduring the last dreary days of winter. But there is so much more to these plants than beauty. Their emergence and bloom is part of a strategy to capitalize on sunlight while it is available and is perfectly timed with the emergence of early spring pollinators. They are beautiful, bring us joy and are critically important ecologically. This presentation will share the beauty of these flowers and will discuss their identification and ecology.

This is an indoor lecture recommended for ages 5 and up (attendees under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult).
