A Brief Introduction to Some Common and Not-So-Common Astronomical Events

Prepare to learn about the skies above! Join us for an indoor, interactive presentation of many different phenomena in astronomy followed by an outdoor star-gazing session (weather-permitting). About the presenter:

Bernie Reim teaches all of the astronomy labs at the University of Southern Maine where he has been for over 30 years. He also co-hosts a live radio show on the campus radio station, WMPG, 90.9 FM every Friday morning from 11:30 to noon. It is called SCIENTIFICALLY SPEAKING. He does planetarium shows at the Southworth Planetarium at USM in Portland and is the vice president of the Astronomical Society of Northern New England that meets at the New School in Kennebunk the first Friday of each month. They also have an observatory in Kennebunk with two large telescopes that they built back in 2000. He has done a lot of astronomy outreach over the years in this area including shows for the Cliff House, The Tides Inn, and the Nonantum. Bernie is also a licensed real estate broker and a musician and artist.
