Please join us for A Day of Mindfulness hosted by the York Water in the Wave Sangha and the Mindfulness Practice Center of York. This event is freely offered and lay-led.
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York has graciously allowed us to host this event in their Sanctuary building.
Coffee, tea, & light refreshments will begin at 8:15am with the event beginning promptly at 9:00am.
Please plan to arrive no later than 8:45am so that you may be acquainted with the space and seated by 9:00am.
A Day of Mindfulness will be offered in the style of Thich Nhat Hanh's Plum Village Tradition, however, you do not need to be a Buddhist to attend. There is no meditation experience necessary.
The day will include seated meditation, mindful movement, a Dharma talk on Active Hope, small break-out Dharma sharing groups, deep relaxation meditation, mindful eating (BYO), and walking meditation.
It will truly be a peaceful day reminding us to stay in touch with the beauty of life. Come practice in the collective energy of our blossoming community and allow the community to hold space for whatever is on your heart.
There will be periods of light movement, sitting, and laying down. This practice is accessible to all body types and abilities. Everything can be modified for comfort. There will be chairs provided for those who are unable to sit on a cushion for an extended period of time.
Please RSVP ahead of time if you are able so that we may have an idea of how many will be joining us.
Please plan to bring the following:
- a pillow/blanket/yoga mat for deep relaxation practice
- a meditation cushion for seated meditation (If you have one that you prefer. A small assortment of loaner cushions is available.)
- a water bottle
- lunch and snacks (refrigeration is available. Preferred vegetarian, however, this is not mandatory)
- comfortable clothing to practice in (shoes will be removed prior to entering the sanctuary)
There will be no incense or candles and we ask that all attendees be mindful of scents. Please do not wear lotions, sprays, etc with strong scents out of respect for our friends with respiratory issues and allergies.
This event is open to all! Please feel free to invite anyone you think would be interested.
