Goat Untying – 9-19 years oldClass Descriptions:Ranch Trail – Typical trail class that tests a horse's ability to navigate obstacles and tasks commonly encountered during everyday, real-world ranch work.Speed Trail - This is a test of a horse and rider’s ability to navigate obstacles with accuracy as quickly as possible. In order to complete in Speed Trial, a competitor must successfully complete a course of obstacles in the correct order. Riders have 3 attempts to complete each obstacle. After your third attempt, you will be asked to move on to the next obstacle and 30 seconds will be added to your time. Placings are determined in order of the fastest final time first. There are no points or scores based on performance during the Speed trial; all that matters is successfully completing each obstacle as fast as possible.Jousting – Riders will collect rings with a lance.Arena Race – Riders will race around the arena, staying to the outside of the barrels. Fastest time wins.Egg and Spoon - Riders are given an egg and spoon and the rider has to balance the egg on the spoon without using their fingers. A caller asks a group of riders to walk, jog, lope, reverse, and back. Whoever has the egg on the spoon the longest wins.Texas Barrels – Three barrels are placed in a straight line. The rider shall cross the timing line, pass the first barrel on either side, pass succeeding barrels on alternate sides, turn around the third barrel, and return in the same manner to cross the timing line. Knocking over a barrel shall carry a 5-second penalty. Failure to follow the course shall cause disqualification. A contestant may touch the barrels with their hands.Barrels – Typical cloverleaf pattern. Knocking over a barrel shall carry a five-second penalty. Failure to follow the course shall cause disqualification. A contestant may touch the barrel with their hands.Stakes Race – Typical stakes race pattern. If an upright marker is knocked down, there is no time. Contestants must cross the start and finish line between the markers. Failure to do so shall result in disqualification.Flag Race - Requires the rider to pick a flag up from one bucket, circle an end barrel, and place the flag in the second bucket. Upon completion of the ride, barrels and buckets must be standing upright and the flag must be inside the bucket to receive a time. Any flag sticking through the plastic of the bucket inside to outside is legal, outside to inside is not.Keyhole - This event tests the ability of the rider to go in a 4' opening, turn around within a 16' diameter circle, and run out again through the 4' opening. Disqualifications: The contestant is disqualified for stepping on or outside the markings of the circle or the opening and separation of rider and horse/pony during the timing period.Goat Untying - The goat will be staked at the end of the arena on a three-foot rope. The contestant will ride their horse to the goat, dismount, remove a ribbon from the goat's tail, and run back across the finish line. The line will be marked by a cone or the flagger. Time starts when the contestant's horse crosses the starting line, and time stops when the contestant crosses the finish line and the flagger drops the flag with ribbon in hand.Automatic disqualifications will occur if:1. The horse makes contact with the goat.2. The contestant handles the goat with unnecessary roughness.3. The contestant crossed the finish line without the ribbon in hand.Other Regulations:1. Horses and ponies may only be shown one time per class.2. The decision of the judge will be final.__________________________________Refund statement: Full payment is due upon registration.
