Since 1996, International Harvester (IH) enthusiast have gathered together in April to catch up with friends & share their love of
these old vehicles. Scouts West hosts the International Harvester Western Regionals (IHWR) just outside of Barstow, near Calico
Ghost Town. We gather from across the country to spend a few days camping & honoring some of the finest trucks ever made.
Some come to rekindle old friendships & others come just for the fun that can only be experienced the Scouts West way.
While this is an IH event, it is open to all vehicles. Everyone is welcome! We only request that you enjoy having fun, 4-wheeling,
great scenery, & amazing food. The weekend starts with guided trail runs (scenic to hard) into the back country of the Calico
Mountains. Not all choose a trail run, some prefer a more stationary day & ready their IH vehicles (truck or tractors) for the
Show-n-Shine. After a safe return from the trails, the true festivities begin with a fantastic BBQ dinner, Show-n-Shine judging, & everyone’s favorite event – the raffle. It’s an opportunity to win some great prizes & there’s even a special one, just for the kids.
With our raffles, we have supported some great causes over the years from human organ donation, deserving children, and fire
fighter families to off-road associations. With your help, we can raise funds to donate to another truly worthy cause. This year we
have chosen
4 Paws 4 Patriots: They train medical/psychiatric service dogs to change the lives of disabled veterans, first responders and their families. They pair an evaluated, untrained dog with a disabled American veteran or first responder which creates a handler/service dog team. Annually, the organization trains
approximately 200 rescue or shelter dogs to become service dogs, and greater yet, offers service dog training to disabled Veterans and first responders at NO cost to them. They are the only veterans service dog organization with a quantitative study by a major University proving that their method works and helps with PTSD. By helping these disabled men and women return to being productive members of the society, 4 Paws 4 Patriots serves the greater community.
