“Depi” — A Video-Performance by Sarah Trouche

 Դեպի (Depi) means “toward,” “in the direction of.”

The project considers movement less as a journey than as a protocol for transformation: a way of exploring how bodies, materials, and territories mutually alter one another.
Across different Armenian landscapes — urban, rural, mountainous, industrial, and abandoned — performers move with circular structures made from reclaimed inner tubes and felted wool. These mobile sculptures become extensions of the body, taking the form of obstacles, shelters, markers, and fragments of a temporary cartography.
The two materials carry different histories. The inner tube evokes movement, circulation, wear, and traces of previous journeys, while felted wool connects the work to the pastoral and material history of the territory. The process of making felt — bringing fibers together through water, pressure, and friction — becomes a way of thinking about migration, diaspora, and belonging.

The movement begins with two performers and gradually expands as other participants join them, forming a collective body. Each encounter transforms the movements, the sculptures, and their relationship with the surrounding environment.

“Depi” brings together performance, sculpture, and film to create an unstable cartography of Armenia, constructed not through borders, but through experience.

This project is presented as part of Sarah Trouche’s residency at NPAK.

Սառա Տրուշի

Նախագիծը շարժումը դիտարկում է ոչ այնքան որպես ճանապարհորդություն, որքան որպես փոխակերպման արձանագրություն․ որպես միջոց՝ ուսումնասիրելու, թե ինչպես են մարմինները, նյութերը և տարածքները փոխադարձաբար փոխում միմյանց։
Հայաստանի տարբեր լանդշաֆտներում՝ քաղաքային, գյուղական, լեռնային, արդյունաբերական և լքված տարածքներում, կատարողները շարժվում են վերամշակված ավտոմեքենաների անվադողերից և բրդից պատրաստված շրջանաձև կառուցվածքներով։ Այս շարժական քանդակները դառնում են մարմնի ընդարձակումներ՝ ընդունելով խոչընդոտների, ապաստարանների, նշանների և ժամանակավոր քարտեզագրության բեկորների ձևեր։
Երկու նյութերն էլ կրում են տարբեր պատմություններ։ Անվադողը հիշեցնում է շարժումը, շրջանառությունը, մաշվածությունը և նախկին ճանապարհորդությունների հետքերը, մինչդեռ ֆելտավորված բուրդը կապվում է տարածքի հովվական և նյութական պատմության հետ։ Թաղիքի պատրաստման գործընթացը՝ բուրդը ջրի, ճնշման և շփման միջոցով միավորելը, դառնում է միգրացիայի, սփյուռքի և պատկանելիության մասին մտածելու միջոց։
Շարժումը սկսվում է երկու կատարողներից և աստիճանաբար ընդլայնվում, երբ այլ մասնակիցներ միանում են նրանց՝ ձևավորելով հավաքական մարմին։ Յուրաքանչյուր հանդիպում փոխում է շարժումները, քանդակները և դրանց հարաբերությունը շրջակա միջավայրի հետ։

«Դեպի»-ն միավորում է պերֆորմանսը, քանդակը և ֆիլմը՝ ստեղծելու Հայաստանի անկայուն քարտեզագրություն, որը կառուցվում է ոչ թե սահմանների, այլ փորձառության միջոցով։

Այս նախագիծը ներկայացվում է որպես Սառա Տրուշի՝ ՆՓԱԿ-ում իրականացվող ռեզիդենտության մաս։
