Join us for a spring mycological outing on the Land Trust’s Brighton Creek Protected Area. Rose Tursi from South Sound Mushroom Club will lead us on this foray through forested wetland habitat along the Nisqually River in search of a variety of fungi. You'll explore this incredibly diverse and bizarre branch of life, learn helpful tips for mushroom identification, and discuss the important role fungi play in forest ecology.Accessibility: Up to 1.5 miles roundtrip on undeveloped trail with uneven ground, including a steep trek down the bluff over wooden steps. We will also cross wooden planks in the wetland area. Hiking poles and sturdy shoes are recommended.
