Students should feel comfortable ordering their own materials and working mostly independently with occasional guidance. The instructor will provide demos of techniques related to your projects, but will not guide you through a specific project, so be prepared to come to class with your own ideas. Take the skills you already have to a new level by designing and creating your own pieces, with support in bringing them to life!Materials are not included in the class price. After learning the basics of fabrication and repair as a bench jeweler, she spent an inspiring year in Florence, Italy, taking classes in gemology, wax carving, rendering, and stone setting. Many of the unique engraved finishes and detail techniques Carly uses in her designs were passed down from the expert hands of jewelers working in the traditional Italian metalsmithing style. In her sunny Westbrook, Maine studio, Carly spends hours twisting fine wires, forming small beads of metal, and engraving each piece. Old world techniques, antique design inspiration, and a fresh take on classic concepts are Flux specialties.Open to adults only.
