Matt Dunn is a singer-songwriter at heart who blends polished, seasoned songwriting with the grit and raw emotion of a man shaped by triumphs and defeats. Rooted in Quitman, Texas, his music weaves soulful hooks and rock ‘n’ roll swagger into stories pulled straight from his life — with love often taking center stage.
Born into a life on the move, Dunn spent his early years crisscrossing the country — Virginia, Michigan, Hawaii, California — following his stepfather’s military career. He later served in the U.S. Army himself, completing a tour in Iraq before trading combat boots for a guitar case.
The rock and ’80s hair metal that raised him has always fueled his music, but his craft sharpened after years on the road with Jack Ingram and Needtobreathe. From Ingram, Dunn learned the art of commanding a crowd. From Needtobreathe, he discovered how to pour soul into every note until there’s nothing left to give.
Calling the road home for four years, Dunn released his debut EP Black Lines in 2013 and went on to share stages with Cody Jinks, Bart Crow, Will Hoge, Johnny Lee, Max Stalling, Radney Foster, and more.
