RIDE OUT - 10.00am

LENGTH OF RIDE - Allow approx 4 - 4.5 hrs - including lunch stop

TERRAIN - Gravel, undulating. 2 Loops:  Loop 1 is shorter, about 1.5 - 2 hrs. Has one long uphill section at the start, and then declines gently with some undulation. We circle around the perimeter of the Mountain Bike trails (NOT on the trails). This loop is suitable for all rider abilities, but we will need to trot up the first uphill section so that the horses have enough momentum to get over the water cuttings. This loop will finish back at the floats, where we can eat lunch, feed and water the horses. You have the option to leave the ride here if you wish.

Loop 2 is longer, minimum 2.5 hrs. This circuit has multiple uphill and downhill sections (some steep, some not). There is one part of the ride that should the ground be particularly dry, we will need to dismount and lead the horses on foot down into a gully (the gravel can be slippery). Make sure you are wearing suitable shoes for walking with plenty of grip. We will be able to ride the horses up and out of that gully.
All riders are welcome on this loop as well, but will need to be comfortable with hill work

SPEED OF RIDE - Walk & Trot.

SHOES/BOOTS REQUIRED - YES. The entire ride is on fine gravel. 

LUNCH - Bring a pack lunch and water on ride -- but we will be eating lunch at the vehicles.

DIRECTIONS - Take Back Creek Road near Yackandandah to Schmidt Lane with a quick right turn onto Kirby Flat Road. Follow that until you reach a 'Y' intersection where you turn left onto No. 1 Rd. Stay on that until you see a sign for 'Firewood Depot Track'. Turn left onto that road and it will lead you right to the parking area.
There will be a picture of the map posted on this event.

PARKING - Plenty of parking.

COST - $10 Ride fee to non OVHRA Members (+ ATHRA Day
Membership fee of $20 if not an ATHRA Member)
