- **Event Description**: Nagle Dam is set in the rural yet spectacular Valley of a Thousand Hills, with the 1000 Hills Challenge returning on 12 July 2026. The contrasting hills, towering red cliff faces, sparkling dam, and dense bushveld once again invite runners to explore this landscape the way it was meant to be — on foot.

Runners on the longer courses will circumnavigate the entire dam, venturing into riverine sections above it — including the adventurous river crossing — and taking on climbs where the hills do far more than undulate. The shorter course cuts through the middle of the dam via an exciting tunnel before looping around the lower sections. Expect sightings of zebra, giraffe, and impala within the Msinsi Reserve, along with Nguni cattle in the surrounding areas.

This event remains a firm favourite within the trail community for good reason — delivering a rare perspective of KZN paired with a lively race village, complete with great food and drinks.
