Part of the Global Day of Unplugging!
Greene County families are encouraged to put down their screens and reconnect with each other during Greene County Unplugged, a countywide initiative taking place March 6–7, 2026, in celebration of the Global Day of Unplugging.
The effort is coordinated through the Greene County Disconnect 2 Connect Coalition, a collaborative group of local agencies committed to supporting healthy families, youth well-being, and meaningful community connections. Coalition partners include Greene County Public Health, the Greene County Educational Service Center, the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Clark, Greene and Madison Counties, Greene County Family and Children First, Greene County Children Services, Greene County Parks & Trails, the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce, the Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce, the Beavercreek Chamber of Commerce, the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Chamber of Commerce, the Greene County Public Library, Wright State University, and the YMCA.
As part of the initiative, community members can participate in Passport 2 Fun, an interactive activity designed to encourage families to enjoy screen-free experiences together throughout the weekend. Passports are available beginning this week and can be picked up at any participating Greene County Chamber of Commerce, Greene County Parks & Trails headquarters, any Greene County Public Library, or Greene County Public Health.
The Passport 2 Fun highlights six anchor events happening across Greene County during the weekend. Families may choose which event(s) to attend. Each passport must be signed or checked off by the event organizer for the passport holder to be eligible for prizes.
Once completed, passports must be turned in at any Greene County Public Library by March 13, 2026, and must include the participant’s name, phone number, and email address. All completed passports received by the deadline will be entered into a drawing to win a family gift basket, and winners will be contacted after the deadline.
A QR code on the back of each passport links to the Greene County Unplugged webpage, where residents can learn more about the Disconnect 2 Connect Coalition and find additional screen-free activities and opportunities throughout the weekend.
In addition to scheduled events, residents will begin to see “Unplugged” signage at participating locations across Greene County, identifying spaces where families are encouraged to enjoy time together without screens.
“Greene County Unplugged is about creating intentional moments for families to slow down, connect, and be present with one another,” said Laurie Fox, public information officer at Greene County Public Health and a member of the coalition. “By coming together as a community, we’re reinforcing the importance of balance, connection, and mental well-being.”
