Push in Ceremony

Join us at Wylie Fire Station No. 3 (210 N. WA Allen) for an Open House & Apparatus Push-In Ceremony on Saturday December 13th, at 9 AM — with the official push-in beginning at 9:30 AM.

The tradition dates back to the late 1800s when fire departments used hand-drawn pumpers and horse-drawn equipment. When returning to the station after a call, the horses couldn't easily back the equipment into the bay, so firefighters would disconnect the horses from the fire trucks and push the equipment back into the station themselves.

Wylie Fire Rescue is welcoming SIX brand-new apparatus, and we need the community’s muscle to help push each one into the bay — a tradition dating back to the late 1800s!

Bring the whole family for a fun morning filled with: Kids’ activities, station tours, food & refreshments, pipes and drum performances, and plenty of firefighter fun!
