Es heißt, Pina habe sich oft ausgemalt, wie es wohl wäre, ihre Originalbesetzung das Stück in viel höherem Alter tanzen zu sehen. Jetzt, 46 Jahre später entwickelt die Choreografin Meryl Tankard, selbst eine der zentralen Protagonist:innen der Originalbesetzung, eine Neubegegnung mit „Kontakthof“.

Neun der ursprünglichen Tänzer:innen kehren in ihre Rollen zurück und so wird die Inszenierung zu einer neuen Interaktion zwischen Vergangenheit und Gegenwart. „Kontakthof – Echoes of '78“ bezieht Projektionen von Aufführungsmitschnitten aus dem Archiv ein, die die beteiligten Tänzer:innen in jungen Jahren zeigen, aber auch diejenigen, die nicht mehr länger auf der Bühne stehen.
