Meditation for Non-Visualizers A Workshop for Aphantasia & Alternative Perception Styles

Can't picture things in your mind? Join the club. Aphantasia is the inability to create mental imagery and affects way more people than most meditation teachers realize. And yet somehow, traditional meditation instruction is obsessed with "visualize a white light" and "picture yourself on a beach."
Plot twist: you don't need to see images in your mind to meditate effectively.
This workshop is specifically designed for people who don't visualize - whether you have complete aphantasia or just don't naturally think in pictures. We'll explore meditation techniques that work with how your consciousness actually operates, not how meditation books assume it should.
Here's the thing: Meditation isn't about creating mental movies. It's about awareness, presence, and accessing altered states of consciousness. There are dozens of valid approaches that don't require visualization at all.
Many people with aphantasia report stronger access to other forms of awareness precisely because they're not caught up in the visual layer most people mistake for reality.
What We'll Explore:
Sensation-Based Meditation - Working with physical feelings, temperature, pressure, texture as anchor points instead of visual imagery
Conceptual Meditation - Using abstract knowing and pure concept rather than pictures (you can "know" calm without "seeing" blue light)
Sound & Vibration Focus - Auditory meditation techniques including toning, listening practices, and frequency work
Kinesthetic Approaches - Movement meditation, body scanning, proprioceptive awareness
Breath as Pure Sensation - Feeling air move without needing to visualize anything
Emotional/Energetic Meditation - Working directly with felt sense and energy rather than trying to picture it
Mantra & Repetition - How verbal/conceptual repetition creates altered states without imagery
Awareness of Awareness Itself - Meta-cognitive meditation that requires zero visualization
We'll try multiple techniques during the workshop so you can discover what actually works for YOUR brain. What you'll learn is that aphantasia isn't a limitation - it's just a different way consciousness operates, and meditation can be incredibly powerful when you stop trying to force visual experiences.
