UCelli is a classical cello quartet. We love performing together and play music that spans 400 years!
UCelli will be performing original works for cello quartet, some of our commissioned works and some arrangements created for us.
We will be also be including fabulous original artwork from Duarte Brown that was commissioned by the Johnstones to be displayed as we performed "Four Women" by Mark Lomax.
Described by WOSU Classical 101 as, โbreathing new life into music,โ UCelli is a quartet of virtuoso cellists whose individual artistry and combined chemistry result in a unique and vibrant concert experience. Each artist is a soloist and chamber musician in her own right, bringing strong musical philosophies and relationships to cello repertoire and pedagogy. Also members of the Columbus Symphony and ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, the experiences and collaborations held among these four cellists allow for exciting explorations of new and unconventional intersections between music and life.
UCelli was chosen by the Johnstone Foundation for, โTen Score.โ Ten new composition commissions, involving ten Ohio composers, have been written for UCelli and were premiered Oct 10, 2023. UCelli now has 19 commissions written for them.
