Unleash your inner viking with an epic weekend of myth, adventure and games in the company of the companions of the Norse gods
This year's magical family fun event at Wild Heart Hill sees the return of Geri and Freki, Odin’s two wolf companions and the stars of our ongoing, spellbinding story. Being held for the first time over two action-packed days this year's event will also see the return of the goddess Freya’s hawk, Vedrfolir. Choose to come along on Saturday 25 July or Sunday 26 July or maximise the adventure with a weekend pass.
What is included in your ticket:
-Meet the wolves as we open our day with their stories of adventures with Odin. Geri and Freki will be happy to give you the opportunity to have your photos taken with them in Wolf Woods and for you to join them for a meet and greet in the woods as their experienced handler Natalie of Watermill Wolves & Project Wolfheart tells you all about them and answers your wolfie questions.
-Let your imagination take wing in the company of the goddess Freya’s hawk, Vedrfolir, as he glides effortlessly across the field.
-Later in the day, enjoy a mesmerising display of birds of prey as Chris from The Falcon’s Quiver Events tells us all about falconry.
-Meet the magnificent birds up close as Chris tells you all about them, answering any questions you may have.
-Under the guidance of skilled archer Red Fox you'll have the chance to unleash your inner marksman, test your archery skills and hit the bullseye.
-Choose your side as shield maidens and viking warriors clash over territories. Shield walls, swords and battles in the centre ring with Swords-for-Horses re-enactment group.
-Who is the true axe master of your family? Team Red Fox will be taking you through your paces with have-a-go axe throwing, ensuring every throw is fun and safe. May Thor guide your arm and steady your aim.
-Step into the vé and meet with the gods and goddesses of the Nordic myths and sagas and the runes they are associated with.
-Engage in the age-old traditional competition of Tug-of-War that will challenge your agility, teamwork, and strategic thinking. Perhaps family tribe vs family tribe or gods vs goddesses.
-A wolf drawing competition for all ages up to 15 yrs, winners will be announced at the end of each day and be gifted some lovely wolfie trophies
-Discover the sound of ancient traditions brought to life with Norwegian musician and expert in ancient instruments, Kjell Braaten. A fun interactive talk on ancient music and instruments relevant to the Nordic region, from the beginning of time to early medieval music.(Saturday 25 July only)
-A skaldic show with Kjell Braaten. Step into a world where stories are lived through words and sound. Performing alone with his voice, historical instruments and the tales they carry.(Saturday 25 July only)
-Be enthralled as Mythago Border Morris spin their tales through dance, music and story and present their telling of the Ragnerok Prophecy. (Sunday 26th July only)

Deer Butchery - Saturday 25th July, 10:30am-1:30pm - £50
Spend the morning getting hands-on experience skinning and butchering a deer while learning about the various uses for different parts of the animal, beyond just consumption. The course will run for up to three hours. Depending on the group's skill level, it may be shorter or longer, but we aim to run from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. This workshop is for 18+ years only. Saxon Cookery - Sunday 26th July, 10:30am-1:30pm - £50
Spend the morning preparing lunch. Learn about Viking-era food while cooking over a fire using authentic Viking Age replica equipment. We'll begin at 10:30 am and aim to finish by 1:30 pm; however, due to the nature of outdoor cooking, the time may vary. This workshop is for 18yrs+ only. Price includes lunch. Max.10 people
Feast Fit For A King - Saturday 25th July, 7pm-9pm - £40
Join us for an evening of festivity and feasting in the giant Nordic tipi as Bella Hog fills our bellies with home baked focaccia and dipping oils followed by a hog roast PLUS Afon Mel will be there to slake our thirst with bottomless cups of mead, ale or soft drinks. Kjell Braaten will be on hand bringing his skaldic tunes. You can also keep coming back to fill your plate as much as you want!

Slow roasted hog served with fresh white or brown bread rolls homemade sage and onion stuffing, bramley apple cider sauce and let’s not forget the amazing crispy crackling.

Parking - £8 per car. Please ensure that you have prepaid for your parking as we have limited space and is on a first come first served basis. Disabled parking for blue badge holder is available.
We will have easy access toilets on site for disabled/less mobile guests. The main event field is fully accessible although please understand it is a grass field. Wolf Woods is not wheelchair accessible. (arrangements can be made to accommodate any wheelchair users to have time with the wolves). The White Raven crew can assist anybody with mobility problems to access the axe throwing field as well as Wolf Woods, please understand that we will be surrounded by nature and there are tree roots and the like on some pathways to these areas although all due care will be taken to ensure brambles and nettles are trimmed back.
