Luke Morgan - winner of Lawrence O'Shaughnessy Award 2025

Luke Morgan, winner of the prestigious O'Shaughnessy Award for Poetry for 2025, will be visiting Script Haven on Worcester High Street on 19 July.

Luke, from County Galway in the Republic of Ireland, will be showcasing his new poetry book, Blood Atlas published by Arlen House. He is also involved in a music theatre show taking place at Malvern Theatres between 14 and 19 July, as well as being a strong supporter of Worcester’s annual film festival.

The O'Shaughnessy Award has been awarded by the University of St Thomas, Minnesota, since 1997 to honour outstanding Irish poets and the contribution they have made to the writing community in Ireland.

Blood Atlas is Luke’s third full-length collection, and explores the language and legacy of several regions, including Luke’s own homeland in County Galway. It is described as being “an exploration not only of ancestry, but the universe inside the human body”.

Luke will be joined by former Worcestershire Poet Laureates, Leena Batchelor and Rhianna Levi-Burton, who will be sharing poems from their own collections.
