All welcome.About this EventLeah Gordon is an artist, curator, and writer working nationally and internationally. She is the co-director of the Ghetto Biennale (Haiti) and was co-curator of Kafou: Haiti, Art and Vodou at Nottingham Contemporary (UK). Her work explores the intersectional histories of the Caribbean plantation system, the Enclosure Acts, and the creation of the British working-class. Her work recognises the role of carnival, folk traditions, and grassroots religion in both performing and sustaining radical histories.Monument to the Vanquished Peasant includes works created over the last three years, as well as a new commission, Urban Vagabonds, and a series of photographs made in collaboration with local allotment holders in Coventry.The talk is free and open to the public.
