Wootton Circular

Welcome to Freshwalks. This classic ramble event is part of our own vibrant business community programme and everyone is welcome to join us for a morning of walking and networking in the great outdoors. Feel free to come alone - most Freshwalkers do - and you'll be warmly welcomed or invite a colleague or client along for company.

Route description

This scenic circular walk begins at The Woodsmans Arms, winding through quiet farmland along Littleton Lane before the route crosses the heritage Isle of Wight Steam Railway - watch out for passing trains. Heading through peaceful countryside alongside the edge of ancient Briddlesford Copse the route ontinues towards Wootton Bridge, offering charming rural views. A gentle climb past Fernhill before reaching the tranquil Packsfield Lane which curves back towards the starting point, completing the loop. With woodland edges, nostalgic railway sights, and country lanes, this walk is a perfect mix of nature and history in the heart of the Isle of Wight.

Public transport: You can take the 9 bus from Newport to Ryde. The 10:10 bus from Newport stops at Wootton Common Crossroads at 10:19 and it's then 3 mins walk to our meeting location. Full timetable here
