- **Event Description**: The only enjoyable time to tackle the Comb Fell bogs and attempt the Cheviot horseshoe is either when the bogs are frozen or bone dry in the summer. January is the perfect month to attempt this walk, which climbs four of the highest Northumberland's summits (The Cheviot, Cairn Hill, Comb Fell and Hedgehope Hill) and is one of the Cheviot classics, with lovely views and a great sense of achievement.

To arrive, Google maps will show a route through Middleton or through Wooler. Please note that going through Middleton involves fording a river which may be high this time of the year. Please make an informed decision on the day. The route through Wooler is 5 minutes longer and follow roads only. The route follows established paths, which may be wet underfoot if the ground is not frozen. If it looks like it is too boggy, it will be re-routed to avoid Comb Hill. Optional drink/meal in Wooler after the walk. 

Parking is at the car park before Langleeford, next to the round sheepfold on the OS map. OS Grid NT 95398 22525, 55.496495°N, -2.074384°W, w3w ///pine.visits.inefficient. The car park is small, PLEASE CAR SHARE if possible.
