Hello Team,

Please resend all previous emails, letters, and correspondence submitted to the McHenry County Board and Zoning Board regarding opposition to the Sunberry slaughterhouse proposal. This is necessary to ensure your concerns and opposition are officially recorded for the upcoming Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) meeting on Dec 18, 2025.

Important: The proposal is now being considered under a new case number (ZBA #Z25-0068) and is treated as a separate and new application. As a result, none of the public comments, questions, evidence, or concerns submitted during the earlier hearing will be valid.  

Below is the explanation received from Anna Kurtzman, clarifying the need for resubmission to ensure continued public opposition is recognized:

Please take a moment to locate and resend your previous messages, or submit a new letter if you have not yet done so. Your voice matters, and it’s critical that the board hears from the public again regarding this issue.

Email explanation from Anna Kurtzman, 9/22/2025- 

"Thank you for asking.  As this is technically a new case, any testimony that the public wants to provide will need to be resubmitted under this new case number.  As before, this can be done via email, mailed to our office, or people may attend the hearing in-person.”

Given the volume of email which she is anticipating the county receive, she is also asking that any email be sent no later than 10:00 AM, Dec 918th.  Emails received prior to the close of day on Dec 17 will be forwarded to the ZBA via email.  Emails received after 4:30 PM on Dec 17 will be printed and submitted at the table on the 18th (hence the request to have emails to us by 10:00 AM, thus allowing us time to print and distribute prior to the hearing).
