Life on the Rocks

Join us for a special evening of music, reef soundscapes, and discussion about saving coral reefs with science! 🎶🪸🔬

As part of the WHOI Ocean & Climate Outreach Series, presented by the Yawkey Foundation, author Juli Berwald will dive into her book “Life on the Rocks”—a powerful story about scientists racing to protect reefs around the world.

In a discussion led by Richard Vevers (director of WHOI’s Room 71 initiative who is featured in the book), Berwald, WHOI microbial ecologist Amy Apprill, and composer Chad Cannon will discuss research and outreach to find reef solutions.

The event will open with selections from “Music for the Ocean,” Cannon’s original violin composition, which includes recordings from coral reefs captured by WHOI scientist Aran Mooney.
