- **Event Description**: Join us for a guided bird walk in celebration of Latino Conservation Week.About this EventConnecticut Land Conservation Council and Flanders Land Trust & Nature Center are hosting a guided bird walk with Latino Outdoors CT in celebration of Latino Conservation Week—a nationwide event honoring the deep and lasting connections Latino communities have with land, water, and the outdoors. This week is a special time to gather, celebrate, and reaffirm the passion Latinos have for the outdoors -- both its enjoyment and preservation.Join us for a 2-mile hike at Flanders Whittemore Sanctuary in Woodbury, CT. The trail has rocky, uneven terrain, with some uphill portions. We’ll hike at a slow pace and enjoy good conversation as we look for birds. Expect to spot Woodpeckers, Ducks, and perhaps even an Eagle!All are welcome to attend.Binoculars, snacks, and water will be provided for all attendees.Free transportation will be provided for Waterbury residents. At 9:15am a bus will depart from the Rivera Memorial Foundation 186 Cherry St #1, Waterbury, CT 06702 and return at approximately 1:15pm.For questions contact CLCC’s Community Conservation Coordinator, Vanessa Daye, at Vanessa@CTConservation.orgDirections: The Whittemore Sanctuary is located off of Route 64 in Woodbury, CT. If coming from Waterbury, head West on Route 64, past the Quassy Amusement Park and the Flanders Whittemore Sanctuary is on the right side.
