Languages for Fun - Japanese Intermediate

Languages for Fun - Japanese Intermediate

This 12 week course in Japanese is aimed at people with some knowledge of the language, who can already understand routine information, write basic correspondence and understand public announcements. It would suit people who have studied to GCSE level (or equivalent) but who got a low grade (Grade B or below) and would enjoy learning more or having a refresher. It gives you the opportunity to:

Develop further understanding of Japanese in a relaxed and fun environment;

Prepare more advanced knowledge of Japanese for studying or working abroad;

Gain more proficient and advanced vocabulary before a holiday, including grammar and conditional phrases;

Gain an insight into Japanese culture.

Courses are open to everyone (students, staff and members of the public).

Each session lasts two hours on Wednesday evenings, 6-8pm, and upon completion you will receive a Certificate of Attendance. The first session will be on Wednesday 2nd October, and the final session on Wednesday 18th December.

A variety of teaching methods will be used to keep the lessons fun and interesting. There is no mandatory requirement for you to complete homework outside of class time, however your teacher may set additional exercises and activities that you can do to aid your learning. These tasks will be entirely optional.

The course is taught at an intermediate level. It would suit people who can already:

Understand some isolated phrases and common expressions that relate to areas of high personal relevance (like personal or family information, shopping, immediate environment, work);

Communicate during easy or habitual tasks requiring a basic and direct information exchange on familiar subjects;

Using simple words can describe his or her surroundings and communicate immediate needs.
