- **Event Description**: Starry Starry Night offers the opportunity for you to learn about stars and constellations in the night sky to get connected with the Universe. Fumie Thorpe, the owner of Thorpe Vineyard, has a BS in Meteorology with Astronomy Minor from SUNY Oswego and is your guide to the celestial bodies overhead. Timely astronomical news and findings are also presented along with mythology from both Eastern and Western cultures. A star chart is provided to each participant to help get accustomed to the night sky. Bring over your binoculars and telescopes if you wish. Phone apps are a great tool for learning constellations as well. 

The event starts at 5 pm in the Tasting Room when our regular business hours end. If you are interested in wine tasting, please come early, allowing yourself plenty of time as we do not conduct any tasting once the talk begins. Wines and snacks are available for purchase to keep you company. 

Stargazing takes place just outside of the Tasting Room building while we stand in the driveway. Please dress appropriately in heavy jackets and winter boots. We adjourn the event when we start to feel the chill – it’s a wintertime stargazing so perhaps it wouldn’t be as easygoing as our summertime counterparts. 

The event is weather permitting due to its nature, so we cancel the activities when it looks appropriate. We post updates on Facebook, Instagram, and X/Twitter by mid-afternoon. Follow us to keep informed! You are always welcome to call us to confirm, too. There is no cover charge to join Starry Starry Night; however, we appreciate your donations to help us continue offering these events in the future.
