Join Richard Young and Revd Dr Chris Dingwall-Jones for the first of two illustrated talks exploring the history of St Mary’s.

Part1: From Saxon estate to medieval parish church

Richard traces the story from the Saxon estate of Witney to the eve of the Reformation: how the Bishops of Winchester built the church, manor house and planned town, and how medieval wealth and worship later enlarged and enriched St Mary’s. Chris explores how people worshipped in these spaces and what those practices reveal about the beliefs of the time.
