More Info on the project:
We received a Β£250 Action Earth Grant from Volunteering matters (funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and NatureScot) to boost biodiversity in our green space at Gowkthrapple, Wishaw. This funding is dedicated to hands-on environmental improvements, and we'll be focusing our volunteer sessions on habitat creation:
Early Pollinator Food: Weβll be planting masses of crocus bulbs and new perennials (Ajuga reptans, Primula vulgaris, Erysimum βBowles Mauveβ) to provide a vital, early food source (nectar & pollen) for local bees.
Wildlife Habitats: We are planning to build a mini-pond to create a micro-habitat and water source for insects and birds, and we will be installing nest boxes to provide safe homes for local wildlife.
Get Involved!
All are welcome to join our volunteer group, no experience is necessaryβjust enthusiasm!
