Inspiring Creativity - improving mental health in Fenland

Inspiring Creativity - improving mental health in Fenland

A FREE workshop for creative artists in Fenland, interested in becoming creative tutors.

We invite artists of all kinds: painters, photographers, actors, performers, film-makers, music producers etc. to join us for a fun morning.  We will introduce you to our approach of creative learning and you can show us your creative passion.

If you are passionate and confident about your art-form, have strong communication skills and care about improving people’s lives through art - you could be ideal for our team!  We run creative courses for adults at risk of social isolation, primarily due to experience of mental ill-health.   Ideally you will have experience of working with under-served groups and teaching, however, for the right people we can help develop these skills.

Inspiring Creativity is an opportunity to find out more about Cambridge Community Arts and how we operate and a chance to share your creativity with us and each other. Everyone participating will lead a 5-minute group warm-up activity to demonstrate how they can inspire others and share their art-form passion. Everyone will give feedback on every activity, an important part of the learning experience.

We will finish off with a group discussion about Understanding Challenges.  A chance to share the wealth of experience in the room and a safe place to ask any questions.  Current Tutors and Learners will join us to give a full representation.

Feedback from previous participants:

"Any opportunity to be with creative people is a joy"

"Very informative, enjoyable meeting other artists"

Further Information

Since 2014 Cambridge Community Arts has worked with over 500 adults at risk of social exclusion, primarily due to experience of mental ill-health.  Working closely with health professionals and support agencies we target people who benefit from our work.  Courses take place in community settings, are run by practising artists and take place for 3 hours each week.  Working with Cambridge Regional College we offer accredited year-long courses and also offer short 8-week courses.  Participants report that after completing a course they experience an increase in confidence, improved mental health, have better support networks and many continue with their creative interest by running their own clubs; many go on to volunteer or return to work.  We have successfully been running courses in March and Wisbech as Fenland Community Arts, since January 2018.
