About the event

Tribal Muse Annual Spring Workshop
Beautiful dancers! Welcome to another exciting year of dance! We of Tribal Muse are very much looking forward to dancing and learning with you all again!

This year’s workshop will be once again held in Winterset, Iowa at the Madison County Community Building, the white building marked. Varied Industries….

Our first class of the day will be taught by Rahil Eli from Kansas City Raqs.

This will be a veil focus with emphasis on dancing with a veil technique and includes a short choreography for you to take home with you.
Rahil not only is a skilled veil dancer but she also makes beautiful hand dyed silk veils. She will have several choices for you to purchase , you will need a veil for this class and silk flows so beautifully…….

The second class will be taught by Kasper, she is from Illinois and is an outstanding Fusion dancer and I believe part of the now Stygian Collective but…. That is not all… she is part of and teaches a format called Black Sheep Bellydance.
Her class description: “ Flock around and Find Out”

Ready to move and connect? This Black Sheep -style fusion Bellydance workshop is open to all levels and designed to get you moving with confidence and creativity.
We’ll explore an wide variety of movements for the Blacksheep format, diving into both slow juicy vocabulary and fast punchy accents, with everything in between.

Expect a supportive, playful environment where technique meets musicality, improvisation and group awareness, Whether you are new to synchronized group improvisation or are looking to deepen your understanding of the Blacksheep style, you’ll leave with tools, fresh inspiration and a whole lot of fun!

Class participants will have the option of dancing together for the evening performance with methods learned from this Workshop class!

Sunday morning brings even more excitement!
Leah Gough is a Renn Faire performer and Member of Tribal Muse, She will be presenting a class as an Introduction to Fan Veils.

Learn the basics including the proper way to hold your veils to protect your hands and other techniques. These include determining how to tell a story to fit your music, such as moving from soft to strong movements and accenting parts of the song for the most impact.
This will include a short choreography with a whimsical song. Whether you are new to this art or experienced this is sure to be fun for all.

You will need a pair of fan veils… Tracy from Oasis BaZaar from Omaha will be bringing an assortment of beautiful veils to choose from , if you don’t have any yet, keep her in mind. She also is the vendor with beautiful hip scarves and other dance related treasures!

The Final class on Sunday morning will be taught by Rahil Eli… she has an extensive background in Belly dance History and techniques. This class will be about the Awalem style, considered the oldest style that most believe were dancing from the 1700s through the early 1900s! Learning where our dance came from is very important and
Learning the dance movements of this style will be both fun and accessible for all levels. We will learn not only History but movements and choreography!
