- **Event Description**: The Breakthrough Theatre Company will hold auditions for "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" on one day only, SATURDAY, August 8, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. If you've never been in a Breakthrough production, please bring a headshot, or current face picture. Resumes are appreciated, but optional.

Unfortunately, I only have room on the calendar for one audition date. IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT, but are interested in auditioning, please reach out to director, Wade Hair, at wadehair1966@gmail.com . 

All roles are unpaid, but we collect tips at every performance that are split amongst the cast.

Follow the superstitious schoolmaster Ichabod Crane as he competes for the hand of the wealthy Katrina Van Tassel, all while the spooky village of Sleepy Hollow whispers tales of a ghostly, Headless Horseman. This captivating adaptation of Washington Irving's short story, by Wade Hair, blends suspense, humor, and classic folklore into an unforgettable theatrical event that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

LOTS of roles for all genders and ages.

CAST OF CHARACTERS

ICHABOD CRANE - The tall, thin, hyper-superstitious schoolmaster from Connecticut. Eccentric physical comedy role.

BROM BONES - The muscular, proud, and mischievous local hero. Katrina's suitor.

KATRINA VAN TASSEL - The beautiful, clever, and flirtatious daughter of the wealthiest farmer in town.

OMA VAN TASSEL - Katrina's ancient, completely unbothered, sharp-tongued Dutch grandmother. High comic relief.

BALTUS VAN TASSEL - A jolly, prosperous, and exceedingly satisfied Dutch farmer.

DAME VAN TASSEL - Baltus's sharp, organized, and no-nonsense wife.

HANS VAN RIPPER - A grumpy, strictly practical, and tight-fisted elder farmer.

OLD BROUWER - A weathered, highly theatrical local village elder and legendary storyteller.

The Children (The Schoolhouse Ensemble):

YOST - The bold, clever ringleader of the classroom pranks.

MINNA - Highly dramatic, deeply superstitious child who loves scary stories.

ANNETA - Easily led, giggly follower who loves to watch the older boys clash.

DIRK - Purely chaotic younger child who catches frogs and worms.

The Sleepy Hollow Boys (Young Adult Ensemble):

ROELOFF - Brom’s broad-shouldered, fiercely loyal right-hand man.

CORNELIUS - Sarcastic, lean skeptic who handles structural setup of pranks.

JACOBUS - The sheer brute muscle of Brom’s crew.
