Spring Dance

Lauren Anderson, former principal ballerina with Houston Ballet, returns to campus to stage a selection from “The Sleeping Beauty” set to Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score. Jessica Lang restages her work, “Escaping the Weight of Darkness,” originally commissioned by the National Ballet of Japan in 2014.

Madison Ballet Artistic Director Ja’ Malik premieres a new work, while faculty member Abigail Yager restages an iconic piece by Trisha Brown for contemporary dancers. The School of Dance also welcomes back alumna and retired faculty member Dayna Fox (’99) to restage a work by Salvatore Aiello, former artistic director of North Carolina Dance Theatre.

Spring Dance is presented with support from the Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts’ Alumni in Residence (AIR) Project.
