The 2018 Press 53 Gathering of Poets is expanding, offering more workshops and readings throughout the weekend, and tables for writing groups and other small press publishers of poetry.

Saturday, March 24, Marriott—A Day of Workshops and Readings
8 AM: Check-in for our Saturday workshops
9 AM – Noon and 2– 5 PM
Workshops: Choose one, two, three, or four. Each workshop is one hour and fifteen minutes and is led by our invited faculty members. Cost is $20 per workshop and limited to 20 poets in each workshop.
One-on-one critique sessions with poetry editors: Send up to three poems in advance and then sit down privately with your selected poetry editor for an in-depth critique. Each session runs 25 minutes. Cost is $30.
Poetry Lounge: attend open and free poetry readings and presentations throughout the day by both invited poets and attendees. The schedule is forthcoming.
Visit our vendor tables of small press publishers of poetry books and journals, including Bull City Press, C&R Press, Main Street Rag Publishing Company, North Carolina Poetry Society, North Carolina Writers' Network, PANK magazine, Press 53, Snapdragon: A Journal of Art & Healing, Winston-Salem Writers, and Unicorn Press.
Open lunch period from Noon – 2PM: We will have a list of restaurants within walking distance from the event. Get out and experience Winston-Salem!
7 PM: Faculty reading at Bookmarks Bookstore, a short walk from the hotel at 634 W. Fourth Street. Browse the story before and after the reading, and grab a beverage at the Foothills Brewery Café.
Sunday, March 24
10-Noon, Marriott—Sunday Seminar with Tom Lombardo
Press 53 Poetry Series Editor Tom Lombardo will lead a presentation and discussion of Scottish poet and playwright Carol Ann Duffy, the first Scot, woman, and openly gay poet to be appointed Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom. Cost is $10 to attend this lively presentation and discussion.
