Over the course of the year MMAM will host (3) book events, (3) films, (3) crafts + cocktail workshops, and (3) musical performances on Third Thursdays. These events will be ticketed separately from gallery admission.

This February, MMAM will be screening the film Moby Dick (1965) in the A Spectacle in Motion gallery.

Catch the Sony Pictures classic, Moby Dick (1956), screened within the gallery featuring the exhibition A Spectacle In Motion: The Grand Panorama of a Whaling Voyage ‘Round the World, for a memorable night of high seas adventure. In this film, directed and produced by John Huston, from Herman Melville's 1851 novel Moby-Dick, Capt. Ahab (Gregory Peck) has a vendetta against Moby Dick, the great white whale responsible for taking his leg. He sets out on a suicidal quest, anxious for a final showdown with the legendary white whale. Enjoy the film alongside the 1848 Grand Panorama, a massive 1275 foot-long painting of a whaling voyage that was viewed by Melville prior to completing Moby-Dick, and other art and artifacts from the period, including harpoons, whaleship logbooks, historic maps, and more. MMAM curator Jon Swanson will introduce the film and exhibition.
