- **Event Description**: The Women's Woodland Strap Dress has been carried for many years by just a few women. Recently, interest has increased and more of our dresses are being worn in our communities. 

Join us as Dené Sinclair shares and presents some of the historical research uncovered by the women who taught her and who have led the way back to this dress: Siobhan Marks & Joanne Soldier. 

This presentation will give an overview of the historical origins of our original dress as Indigenous women, the evolution of our dress over time, and how we got to where we are today. Dené will share the story of her first dress and what has driven her to create more opportunities for others to find their way back to this style. 

Special thanks to Cynthia Jourdain and Howard Copenace at Bimose Tribal Council for their support and direction to first create this presentation.

Special acknowledgement to the many women, teachers and knowledge keepers in communities who are making patterns, teaching classes and sharing what they know about this dress.  We hope this presentation strengthens all that good work and helps you continue to grow the community. Together, we are stronger!
