Alexis the Alligator's Gator Day

On the 4th of July, the Winfield Aquatic Center held a contest to name the alligator that has lived in the shallow water for many years, sadly without a name! The winner of the naming contest was Allyson Smith. Allyson submitted this name and story, and we are proud to now call our gator Alexis!

"'Alexis' the Alligator in honor of my sister, Alexis Crittenden, who died in 2004 due to our family house fire. She was 13 and was a life long Winfield Swim Club member. She was at this pool as often as possible. And I'm sure would have been a lifeguard one day too."

Thank you for this submission Allyson! And to honor her name, we are celebrating with Gator Day on August 9th! No extra admission required, just regular gate prices! We hope to see you there!
