The 4th edition of the Festival du Nain Rouge is coming to historic Mill Street Park in Old Sandwich Town, Windsor. This spring fair celebration is growing! We at MACCSO*, celebrate the local legend of the Nain Rouge—the mysterious “red dwarf” of Detroit River lore—and the vibrant French heritage of our region. We aim to create an atmosphere of quirky charm, community spirit, and playful mystery. There will be concerts, music, dancing, singing and a kid’s corner. We are a family friendly bilingual event!

Inspiré du folklore local de Détroit, ce festival revisite la légende en y ajoutant une saveur résolument canadienne et franco-ontarienne. Conçu comme un complément festif au grand festival de Détroit, l’événement célèbre le Nain Rouge d’une façon unique, en le plaçant au cœur d’une démarche artistique, ludique et rassembleuse.
Le festival propose une riche programmation d’activités, allant de concerts de musique à des expositions artistiques, tout en invitant le public à se déguiser, à s’amuser et à plonger dans une ambiance immersive. On peut y imaginer une foire de la Renaissance teintée de magie un peu sorcière, d’un plaisir décalé et festif, le tout porté par une touche francophone bien assumée. Véritable terrain de jeu créatif, le Nain Rouge : Édition Windsor met en valeur les talents locaux et favorise les rencontres entre les communautés. Ouvert aux francophones, aux francophiles et aux anglophones, l’événement incarne un esprit d’inclusion et de célébration, où la culture, l’imaginaire et le plaisir se rencontrent pour créer une expérience culturelle vibrante et accessible à toutes et à tous.
Inspired by Detroit’s local folklore, the festival reimagines the legend with a distinctly Canadian and Franco-Ontarian flair. Designed as a festive complement to Detroit’s larger celebration, the event highlights the Nain Rouge as a source of artistic inspiration, creativity, and community connection.
The festival offers a diverse range of activities, from live music performances to art exhibitions, while encouraging attendees to dress up, have fun, and step into an immersive atmosphere—think a Renaissance fair infused with witchy magic, funky fun, and a distinctly Francophone twist. Serving as a creative playground for local talent, Nain Rouge: Windsor Edition brings people together across cultures. Open to Francophones, Francophiles, and Anglophones alike, the event reflects a spirit of inclusion and celebration, where culture, imagination, and joy come together to create a vibrant and welcoming cultural experience.
