Backyard Gardening Tips from Northwest Park!

Whether you are new to kitchen gardening or an “old hand”, join us in the Organic Demonstration Garden at Northwest Park for FREE tips, diagnoses and recommendations! Since 2017, Hartford and Tolland County Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners have provided self-guided learning about growing herbs, vegetables and fruits. Come see what we have in our beds, share your garden stories and leave with new ideas! We use organic methods, based on the principles of Integrated Pest Management, from prevention to treatment.

This month, it's all about nurture! The pollinators are buzzing, the hops are climbing high and the berries are ripening! Now we must monitor soil moisture, insect damage and plant nutrition. We will talk about irrigation, heat protection, soil and foliar treatment … and critter barriers! Learn with us; sample some of our harvest; discuss techniques for combatting weird weather!
