What is the Detroit Festival of Books?
The Detroit Festival of Books (aka: the Detroit Bookfest) is a goodwill effort to help generate a deeper love and appreciation of books in the community.
What is the cost of admission?
Admission is FREE and open to the general public!
How about parking?
There is a variety of free and metered street parking, paid lots and more around the Eastern Market district.
Are there bathrooms?
Yes! There are men’s and women’s bathrooms around Eastern Market.
There are wheelchair-accessible bathrooms inside Shed 3 and Shed 5 but not at the Wheelhouse.
What is Eastern Market?
Opened in 1891, Eastern Market is the largest historic public market in the United States.
Featuring 43 acres of space, Eastern Market is comprised of a series of indoor and outdoor sheds which function as consumer markets that currently average 40,000 weekly visitors with an additional 45,000 people on Saturday’s alone.
What is Shed 3 @ Eastern Market?
Detroit Bookfest will be located inside Shed 3.
Shed 3 is located on Russell Street, between Division St & Adelaide St.
Built in 1922, Shed 3 is 29,000-square feet. The layout features 4 wings in a cross-shape.
It is the “main” and largest shed at Eastern Market.
Shed 3 features bathrooms, large garage door-walls and free wi-fi.

Will there be music?
Yes, one of Detroit’s veteran producers named DJ Zig-Zag will be playing funk music.
Will there be beer?
Yes! There will be a full cash bar inside of Shed 3 featuring beer, wine and liquor.
Will there be food?
Yes, there will be a variety of vendors selling food from their mobile kitchens and trucks.
