# Event Details

- **Event Name**: The Brain's Tug-of-War: Emotional Eating Explained
- **Event Start and End Date**: Wed, 23 Sep, 2026 at 05:30 pm (+00:00)
- **Event Description**: Emotional eating isn’t about willpower — it’s the brain’s survival response overriding the thinking brain. This is why you might genuinely want to control your eating but still feel hijacked by urges. It’s not personal failure; it’s a protective pattern your brain learned long ago.

In this free 45‑minute introductory webinar you’ll discover why the survival brain reaches for food before the thinking brain can step in, and how to start breaking the cycle with simple grounding tools and increased self‑awareness. You’ll also hear real‑life case studies that bring the science to life and help you recognise your own patterns with clarity and compassion.

What you’ll learn:-
~Why the survival brain drives emotional eating before the thinking brain can step in
~ How emotional eating becomes a protective pattern
~ Grounding tools to help you pause and reduce the intensity of urges
~ How to recognise your own emotional eating patterns with clarity and compassion
~ Real‑life case studies that bring the brain‑based model to life.

To keep the session structured and emotionally safe for everyone, microphones will remain off and the chat will stay closed. Interaction happens through guided exercises and/or reflection prompts, so you can take part without distraction or feeling put on the spot.

We’ll finish with a short 5‑minute Q&A to clarify any tools or concepts. This part is for general questions rather than personal stories, so the space stays safe and contained for everyone.

PowerPoint slides will be emailed to you after the session so you can revisit the material and try out the exercises in your own time.

Recording available. If you’re unable to join live, or prefer to watch in your own time, a recording will be sent to everyone who has purchased a ticket after the event.

Please note: as with any Zoom webinar, your name may be visible to other attendees or to those watching the recording, depending on your Zoom settings. You’re welcome to keep your camera off if you prefer.

If you’d like to continue this work, a 90‑minute deep‑dive session runs on Wednesday 4th November, six weeks after this introductory webinar. Tickets for the deep‑dive session will be released once the introductory webinar has finished, so you’ll know exactly what to look out for and when.

Presented by Emma Randall, a UK‑based mindful eating therapist specialising in emotional eating and food psychology.
