Join Mr. Tim and Ms. Kim for our annual 8-Page Mini Comic Book Class on March 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM!
In this exciting 90-minute class, students will learn how to create an 8-page mini comic book from start to finish, using just one sheet of paper. Along the way, they'll dive into the art of comic book illustration. First, we'll guide students in designing a unique character, which will then form the basis of an original story. From there, students will learn how to storyboard scenes and transform them into comic book pages. By the end of the session, each student will have their very own mini comic book, written and illustrated entirely by them.
This hands-on experience mirrors the creative process used by UX designers to map out solutions, offering valuable lessons in iteration and design.
Every student will leave with a finished master copy of their artwork, ready to be printed into as many copies as they like—just like a real comic book—using a home printer or copy machine to share with family and friends. During class, we’ll print one copy for each creator and show them how to fold it into a completed mini comic book.
Students can choose to create black and white comics or add color where desired—the choice is theirs. The 8-page limit, including the cover, encourages creative problem-solving to fit the story within the space available and the 90-minute time frame. This class is open to all skill levels, and all materials will be provided.
